“I couldn’t be more pleased with the Arbisoft team. Their engineering product is top notch, as is their client relations and account management. From the beginning, they felt like members of our own team—true partners rather than vendors.”Connor Diemand-YaumanCEO, Philanthropy University
Philanthropy University is a free innovative tech-enabled platform that provides learning for social impact by putting courses, communities and funding just a click away. Philanthropy U wanted to build a proprietary learning and discussion platform to on-board changemakers from around the world, many of which operate in under-resourced communities with varying and unpredictable IT service. They wanted a technology partner to help develop a high-performance, end-to-end web and mobile product that could reliably function low-bandwidth or intermittent Internet contexts and also support services to keep all operations running under one roof. This is where Arbisoft came in.
Since 2016, Arbisoft has been involved in the design, development, and execution of a holistic learning experience for Philanthropy University. Our team of engineers collaborate with the organization’s internal team to help sustain this platform to accelerate impact in under-resourced communities.
Arbisoft provides complete engineering services for both the web platform and the mobile app. It began with the challenges of creating a seamless user experience between NodeBB (the discussion/communities experience) and Open edX (the Learning Platform). Our team configured (and continues to manage) the application’s infrastructure to ensure platform availability and smooth delivery of courses globally. We also provide complete end-user support to the platform’s 100,000+ registered users via Zendesk, which is seamlessly integrated with the platform to make one cohesive user experience.
The platform has been able to efficiently serve its learners’ needs. As a comprehensive learning platform, Philanthropy University knew a discussion component would be critical to inspire peer-to-peer knowledge exchange. While distinct platforms, we sufficiently tightened the integration between NodeBB and Open edX so users can easily transition between the two. The integration also allows for a better in-course discussion that directly enhances course engagement and adds valuable user-sourced questions and answers to the learning experience. These results have greatly contributed towards Philanthropy University’s goal: to equip organizations with the practical tools and skills they need for success.
